Modo Yoga engaged Workshop AD to design their first Seattle hot yoga studio. The plan is a simple configuration that takes advantage of a two sided retail space. The studio anchors the street facing façade, while the entry lounge anchors the retail courtyard façade. Changing rooms, mat storage, and energy exchange flank these spaces.
This organization results in strong daylighting in all the primary spaces and a meaningful connection between the activity in the studio and the adjacent public spaces. Raw materials such as cedar, basalt, and concrete are juxtaposed to one another to highlight the essential elements.
